eBay recently increased their final value fees and reduced their listing fees. The result is a large net increase for doing business on eBay – around 10%. BUT eBay snuck one in on sellers – reserve fees are no longer refunded. Here’s how it’s worked for years: you sell an item and set a reserve fee. The reserve guarantees that the item won’t sell for less than the reserve price. If the reserve was met, the fee was refunded. Now eBay KEEPS the fee. This little “extra” fee cost me over $250 in the past two weeks. Talk about being screwed! eBay hid that fee and never mentioned it ANYWHERE – except buried several pages deep in the new fee schedule.
